In 2010 the city of Antioch made the decision to not fund the 4th of July parade and fireworks due to a lack of funds brought about by the downturn in the economy. The city stopped funding the Christmas parade and tree lighting that same year.
In 2011 the 4th of July parade was brought back by a group of civic minded volunteers with the help of private donations.
In 2012 this group of volunteers also brought back the fireworks through the generosity of so many individuals and organizations in and around the city of Antioch .
In 2013 the decision was made to form a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to further help the donation process and thus was born Celebrate Antioch Foundation.
